10/24/09 We have had no spring this year, very little summer with under 90 temps and now: NO FALL! Next week clocks are turned back an hour, our days will be short and our nights will come early and and last longer! UGH! Salad days have turned to soup and stew and chili days! Maybe we will be treated to a bit of Indian Summer and get a few last, good sunny days. That would be refreshing. 10/13/2009 It was a banner weekend for the Johnston family as all three of my children were here at one time! Of course, Gus' restaurant, Walter's Hot Dogs and Sal's Pizza all had to be fit in! On Sunday we attended the flag football version of the "Rye/Harrison" which was held as a fundraiser for Charley's Fund. Alumnus and former football standout of the 80's, Benjy Seckler's son Charley is stricken with a severe form of muscular dsystrophy. It was a beautiful sunny day and the game drew a large crowd of supporters who were happy to donate to that worthy cause and enjoy a reunion of sorts. It was also the weekend of "It's Great to Live and Work in Harrison." The annual parade and festa is always a grand gathering of past and present residents of Harrison. Nexf weekend is the REAL or high school version of Rye/Harrison rivalry game which has been ongoing since the 1930's when my father played for Harrison. That's dating myself!! |
